Dan is an attorney with a strong engineering background and client focus, bringing over 10 years of Intellectual Property experience to RowanTree Law Group, including global portfolio management, patent and trademark prosecution, post-grant proceedings, patent litigation strategy, and general IP client counseling. Leveraging a degree in Aeronautical Engineering in addition to wide ranging experience in automotive, farm equipment, home goods, garage storage and organization, surgical utensils, marketing, and white goods industries including washing machines and dryers, dishwashers, and refrigerators allows Dan to communicate effectively with inventors from a wide variety of technical backgrounds and industries.

Prior to joining RowanTree Law Group, Dan was an IP Coordinator and then in-house patent counsel for Whirlpool Corporation in St. Joseph, Michigan, drafting and prosecuting hundreds of patents and patent applications, as well as drafting and negotiating Development and other IP-related agreements.  In addition to his in-house experience, Dan was a shareholder with Nyemaster Goode, PC in Des Moines, Iowa, drafting and prosecuting hundreds of patent applications and working with the litigation team to provide strategy and practical support (e.g., creating infringement and non-infringement claim charts).

Prior to becoming an attorney, Dan was an engineer in the automotive industry both in Detroit working for two of the big three and elsewhere in Michigan for tier-one suppliers. This experience included product design, steel stamping and plastic injection mold tool design, and on-site launch support for the Dodge™ Ram™ and Ford™ F-150™.

Dan is particularly focused on counseling clients in both the legal and the practical sides of patent preparation and prosecution, with the ability to identify the legal implications of patent laws and regulations while engaging in, and contributing to, technical discussions (e.g., understanding in detail the manufacturing and assembly impacts of alternative embodiments and potential design-arounds).

In addition to being an enthusiastic and impactful legal advisor, Dan is a proud father of three children and two puppies.
